It’s been an amazing couple of months and it’s easy to get starry eyed when people start listening to what you have to say and reacting in such positive and affirmative ways to your work.
An interview I had the privilege to be apart of has gotten over 1.8K views and my insides gooooo WOW! Then some recent makeup work has launched some amazing and mind blowing portraits and I’m like Oh yeah! I’m making it! I’m doing it! But my spirit says woooooooah slow down stay grounded, stay focus in your identity and not let others tell you who you are.
So I have a theory that when people start to make it big, and I have to say I have a LONG way to go! It’s more like a core value of mine and how I believe my parents raised me. To not go to others for self approval but to God alone. To truly find your affirmation and identity in Christ that no matter what others say, good or bad you’re not moved or swayed, your grounded.
Ok so how do I stay grounded?
First and foremost stay in community. Seeking out safe relationships is key to my firm foundation. The moment I think I can go it alone and keep away, all hell breaks loose! Every time! We were made for one another, it sharpens us and keep us from being self centered and uni-lateral in our thinking and decision making.
Some times I’ve found that you can be in community and still be invisible and hide out. The next most important way to stay grounded is being firm on your identity. You can have to best and most supportive community but if you don’t know your place and don’t know who you are, then showing up in an authentic way is near impossible!
These are an amazing start to staying grounded in the middle of booming success or in the middle of sheer crisis. I have tons more to share in this topic but for now that’s what I leave you with… Beauty goes as far as you believe in it! So believe for the moon and you’ll get the world at your finger tips. After all this beautiful world was created for us to enjoy, so get out and enjoy it!!!!!
Shine your light oh daughters of Zion, for all the world to see!
