Thoughts on Success and Staying Grounded Part 2

Hello. I hope my heart on staying grounded helped give perspective to how important knowing who you are and staying in community is to your ability to thrive in this life and not just survive. I wanted to finish my experience of what it takes to stay grounded and how I continue to walk it out everyday.

Working in the beauty industry can be insanely exciting yet very depressing at times. So much you can compare yourself to and strive to be. And that brings me to my next big value for staying grounded.

Know your why.

What makes you passionate about what you do? Are you passionate about what you do? If not, how can you work toward that?

Mine sort of happened organically for me. I was raised by a single mom who was very creative and worked in makeup and creative industries so I cultivated a love for the industry. Not everyone has that, I totally get that. But don’t let yourself be stuck in a 9-5 and say, “someday I’ll open that shop, someday I’ll start my ______ ” (insert your dream there)

Start writing down small attainable goals and make it happen! You can do it!

By no means have I arrived! I have a LONG way to go with Marin Makeup and my other passions, it’s journey and everyday I have to remind myself to stay content and not look to far ahead. And that brings me to my last value.

Enough the little things.

Easier said than done right? I used to laugh, and well to be honest still do sometimes, when people told me that. Lately I’ve come find that there is beauty in humble beginnings and to not let the little foxes spoil the vine. There is beauty in chaos. It’s learning to find peace in midst of a storm that will carry you through this lifetime. Stay grounded and love who you are and who you were created to be! Never settle for second best and never let anyone tell you who you are and what you should do. Seek inside your heart and follow your spirit and you will never be lead astray!

Blessings to you all!

Ashley Anne

Thoughts on Success and Staying Grounded Part 1

It’s been an amazing couple of months and it’s easy to get starry eyed when people start listening to what you have to say and reacting in such positive and affirmative ways to your work.

An interview I had the privilege to be apart of has gotten over 1.8K views and my insides gooooo WOW! Then some recent makeup work has launched some amazing and mind blowing portraits and I’m like Oh yeah! I’m making it! I’m doing it! But my spirit says woooooooah slow down stay grounded, stay focus in your identity and not let others tell you who you are.

So I have a theory that when people start to make it big, and I have to say I have a LONG way to go! It’s more like a core value of mine and how I believe my parents raised me. To not go to others for self approval but to God alone. To truly find your affirmation and identity in Christ that no matter what others say, good or bad you’re not moved or swayed, your grounded.

Ok so how do I stay grounded?

First and foremost stay in community. Seeking out safe relationships is key to my firm foundation. The moment I think I can go it alone and keep away, all hell breaks loose! Every time! We were made for one another, it sharpens us and keep us from being self centered and uni-lateral in our thinking and decision making.

Some times I’ve found that you can be in community and still be invisible and hide out. The next most important way to stay grounded is being firm on your identity. You can have to best and most supportive community but if you don’t know your place and don’t know who you are, then showing up in an authentic way is near impossible!

These are an amazing start to staying grounded in the middle of booming success or in the middle of sheer crisis. I have tons more to share in this topic but for now that’s what I leave you with… Beauty goes as far as you believe in it! So believe for the moon and you’ll get the world at your finger tips. After all this beautiful world was created for us to enjoy, so get out and enjoy it!!!!!

Shine your light oh daughters of Zion, for all the world to see!
